We made it to Slovenija yesterday afternoon. The train was no big thing. We got through it fine, though without much sleep. Even rode around in Salzburg with tons of 7 am bike commuters for an hour while we waited for our connection to Villach.
Our "Tourist farm" is super nice, with an outstading dinner. Today we are off in Skofja Loka, checking out the town and finding a bike shop, as my saddle bag was taken off my bike on the train from Budapest to Salzburg, and we need a new patch kit and tire irons. No big thing, but our first experience with theft! Better the saddle bag than our helmets, which were right there as well, or our bikes! No one really wears helmets, so maybe they weren't interested.
This computer is a little funky, so no pictures right now. Or reading of emails. But the blog lives on!

Thanks for all the great pictures and stories! Glad things are going smoothly for you, for the most part. I was really struck by the bull sculpture. The melding of the "deer crossing" and "cattle crossing" roadsigns on its side reminded me of my impressions of canada and how their deer-jumping-onto-the-road signs are different than ours. So this one that you have found is an interesting statement, though I haven't quite figured it out yet. something to do with the line between domestication and wilderness merging? Dunno.

Glad you are in Slovenia now, is it the tourist farm we stayed in? Isn't the area great with its hills, greenery and friendly folks. Are you going to Ljublijana? If you are looking for different food, they have a Mexican food restaurant with Corona beer, up from the main bridge, not towards the castle, or Spanish tapas on the way to the castle. Make sure you hike one of the mountains for coffee, snacks, beer whatever on the top. Wish we had those incentives here.
