Quick bit of blogging while we wait for the train to Koper. This morning we rode out to Predjama Castle, 10 km of up and down hills, but nothing massive or excessively steep. Predjama is another of those places, like Bled, that seems like it should only exist in Medieval epics or Lord of the Rings movies. Of course, it does exist in Lord of the Rings. It's called Helm's Deep. You wonder if there was any influence there. Anyway, it was a cool place.
The castle. So cool looking. How is it that Slovenija has all these cool things? Churches in lakes, castles in caves. Yow!
Me peeking out of a window of the inner/upper part of the castle, which backs right up against the cave, and it's secret back exit.
A Slovenijan lizardWe passed on the Postojna caves. Instead, we'll check out some others near Koper tomorrow. The Postojna caves were fairly expensive, and quite crowded. When we passed by on the way to Predjama, there was no one there, but the tour buses arrived while we were gone, and it was packed when we came back through. Hopefully the others won't be quite as busy. Or if they are, no big thing! Yahoo!
Just 10 more days of travelling. Time is zipping by!

That castle is sweet! That's one of those places where you just wonder who the heck thought to build that there, but you're glad they did because it's so unique. Excellent.
and ha...you didn't do so hot on the first day of the new fantasy season.
I'm really a second half player, anyway.
I'm so glad you got to the castle. I hope you got the story, a seige of the castle for a year, the back goes to caves that come out in the valley so they could sneak out and get fresh food. Lord of the castle, a robber baron like robin hood, was killed while in the outhouse. One of the servants was bribed. Yep, Slovenia is a great place, enjoy the caves and the coast, particularly the sunsets, and the view to Italy
That would be a wicked game of croquet near the castle!
