We got a swing for Corbin this weekend. He has outgrown the baby swing and needed something new. Adam wanted to get him a single rope swing with a little seat. So here it its. He loves it and figured out how to get on all by himself after not much time at all.
Batman now makes an appearance here instead of Corbin. He got a new bat signal this weekend during some art time with daddy.
Almost every day some form of jammies makes it's appearance in each outfit for the day. It's not worth the fight.
We put up the baby swing for Eliza tonight. I will get some pictures of that soon too :-)
I found some super cute matching Jammies on Old Navy a while ago. Eliza is finally big enough to wear them. Corbin thought it was super cool to wear the same jammies as Ellie.
Hmm.... this look is pretty normal these days. What can I get away with before mom or dad notice. We have taken to saying "If you feel like doing something to Ellie, make her laugh instead of cry." It's been sort-of working.
On another note... I am mourning the death of the nap. Ugh. It's not completely gone but it's on its way out. In the last two weeks we have had about 2-3 naps. I am still doing the whole nap routine and he needs to stay in him room for about an hour and a half. He can read and then play quietly. He usually reads for about 30 min to an hour then needs to go to the bathroom and then wants to play puzzles or something. We are working on not coming down till his clock says 3:00. It's been mostly working. The hard part is changing the schedule on the other side of nap... getting dinner, bath, and bedtime moved up. I will keep you updated.
10 months and full of spunk! I was holding a week old baby the other day and you crawled up to me and wanted to get up in my lap and I realized you are no longer my baby! You are growing into a little girl. You seemed gigantic! Some days having two kids is the hardest thing in the whole world but then I look at you while you are nursing or when you smile up at me and I feel so lucky to have you in my life. I love you soo much. I love your brother so much. The two of you drive me bonkers some days but then others you give each other kisses or follow him around and it just melts my heart. Thank you for being MY little baby, Eliza!
You want to be just like your brother. We got a new bike trailer for the two of you (our Chariot only holds one kiddo). You wanted to climb in and go for a ride so badly. But we didn't have a helmet for you yet. So Buppa Bert is ordering you one. We found a cheap old helmet at the store the other day to get you used to wearing it and to have an extra one on hand if we need it. You are obsessed with Corbin's old tricycle. Then you were at someones house the other day and they had a push toy that you loved. So we went out and got a used one for you.
You have hardly gotten any new toys, just Corbin's old ones. We have a push wagon but it goes too fast for you to walk with (the resistance piece is worn from big kids pushing it). You have shown little or no interest in walking with anything. You cruise around the couches and tables and other things but don't want to walk or stand on your own. Until now! This little push toy is awesome for you! Of course, Corbin wants to play with it too. This makes you a little mad.
You have just recently started to respond back and get angry when Corbin does something to you. You will get him back one of these days. When you are not angry with him, you just watch everything he does, like climb up the slide. You now love going down the slide!
You turn around and go backwards down the stairs, the trampoline, and now the slide. You are a pretty daring and tough little girl! You just figured out how to make the trampoline bounce. It is so cute. You sit on your knees and make it go up and down. You just giggle and get the biggest grin on your face. I love it.
You love to crawl around in the grass and be outside. You are not putting as much in your mouth, which is good. You have become a little more fussy and picky with food too. We have discovered an expensive thing you love. Squeezable food. You just take one of those little pouches and suck it down. I have tried to make some smoothies for you so you can drink them on your own. It works a little but not as much as those little squeeze pouches.
You are sleeping through the night almost all nights now. You are going to bed around 7pm give or take some time. You had been waking up around 6:30 or 7 am but these last few mornings you have woken up at 5:15 and not gone back to sleep. It's so light out and the birds are singing you want to start your day, silly girl. Then you nap around 9 am or so. Then again at 2ish, after Corbin goes to bed. Your naps are not quite as long as I would like and I sometimes have to wake you up to go somewhere but you are finally getting the hang of it!
You are nursing about 4 times a day; in the morning, after morning nap, a little before afternoon nap, sometimes after you wake up and then again before bed. You have a little lovey like Corbin's, and a music horse that we play before you go to sleep and a sound machine. You are finally liking to read books instead of just eat them.
You continue to give us lots of smiles and we are enjoying watching see your personality come out. I am curious to know what these next few months bring! I can see your little brain working so hard on some of the signs we have been teaching you. You know nurse, dog, all done, and are working on more, diaper change, water and a few others. We love you little Ellie!
Usually Erin is great at giving haircuts. I start, she finishes. We've done the same with Corbin. I hate paying for haircuts, and haven't for years.
Tonight was haircut night.
Yeah, We look pretty good.
Except, tonight Erin also decided it was time I pay for haircuts.
Mother Hubbard.
I didn't tell Erin I had already taken off the length guide thingy. She didn't look. And so.
I usually go 1/4 inch. So we went over again with 1/8, which is really short, by the way. Now it doesn't look quite as bad, but it still looks...bad. And you can see my C-3P0 on/off switch more, which I don't really mind.
Anyway, my students should enjoy it tomorrow.
I thought about just taking a black Sharpie and writing "hairror."
We have had a rough week of being sick and stuck at home last week. And then for some reason as Corbin gets better, he reverts into a whiny, temper-tantrum throwing, attention getting, driving mommy crazy kid. But today we had a great day. Even dinner while dad was at soccer was good. This is what I came back into the kitchen after leaving too...
P.S.... You love your big brother Corbin so much! He makes you laugh like crazy. Every time we go to get him from his nap, yes you go to sleep after him and wake up before him, you just shine and smile when we get to his door. As soon as we open the door, you just laugh and smile at him. You get all squirmy and literally leap out of my arms so you can go say hi to him.
Even if he sits on you, hits you, pushes you, or isn't feeling very nice, you still love him! As soon as you have calmed down you go right back to trying to play with him. He loves you too even if he get's frustrated by you.
Here you are at 9.5 months, laughing at Corbin jumping and running outside.
Happy 9 months Eliza Jolie! What a joy you are. I could just eat you up!
18 lbs 3 oz. & 27.5 inches. Both 50%ile.
Your top left tooth poked through on your 9 month birthday. By the next week both were in. You now have 4 teeth!
You are a crawling speed monster! You love to crawl to the stairs and climb them. You crawl to whatever room we are in. You like to crawl to the open door and look out. You crawl in the bathroom and try to get into the toilet and diaper pail (yuck!). There is no sitting still for you. You won't even really sit on my lap to read books most nights.
Remember the days when you would like me take a picture of you sitting still. No longer. No more cute little letters saying 9 months! You just smile and giggle at me when I say "No no Eliza, fire is HOT". Good thing for the fire grate!
You like to take books off the shelf but not read them. You eat them. You are starting to get a little more picky about what you eat. And you eat only by yourself. We just plop food down on your tray and you shovel it in. You are Messy! But you LOVE LOVE LOVE the bath! You have NO fear when it comes to the water. You just fall over and get right back up. Forget my rule of no standing in the tub! You even like to drink the water and put your whole face in.
Everything goes in your mouth. Everything.
Naked Diaper baby = Naked diaper/undies brother.
You have big blueish/greyish eyes. They are still changing. I am hoping for some hazel eyes but we will have to wait and see.
Making Corbin's Job's chart at our Family meeting.
Spring Break 2011= Garden projects (weeding) and starting and stopping working on the greenhouse, Vancouver Aquarium, lots of rain, learning to pee outside, a visit with Grandma Susan, and a date night.
Happy Easter!
Did you get a glimpse of Corbin's black eye? He ran into a parked car with his bike. He was wearing his helmet but still managed to bang up his cheek/eye!
We are finally here, the world of the potty, undies, and accidents. I know I shouldn't be so glad to have him grow up so fast but I seriously thought that he would never be interested in going on the potty. Even some other kids who are not fully trained are at least interested but not Corbin, until this past week!
I am of the belief that he will do it when he is ready. I want to push but I know it will just become a battle. For a while I was asking him all the time. We had him sit on the toilet but nothing would happen. Then we just dropped it. I decided that he would tell me when he was ready. No pressure. We would continue to ask him here and there but not all the time. He had some big boy undies (Toy Story) that he would wear once in a while but he had some accidents and decided against it. He has gotten to the point where he knows when he has to poop. He either runs and hides and then instantly has us change his diaper. Or he would say something like, "My tummy hurts. Mom, why does my tummy hurt?" "I don't know buddy, why do you think it hurts?" "Ask me if I have to poop mommy." "Corbin do you have to poop.?" "Yep, mommy, I do. Then you will change my diaper." And we would have to look away or he would go to another room. So we knew we were getting close. But he refused to go try on the potty.
We were at Goodwill this past week and picked up another potty book. I don't know if that spurred the interest again or that he was just ready. We were working outside a lot this past week, as it was Adam's spring break. And somehow he decided that he wanted to try to pee outside. He did it after a long time just standing there! We were so excited for him. We tried to put some emphasis on how hard he worked and how we bet he was excited as opposed to putting too much judgment and praise.
He quickly just started wanting to go all the time outside. Then we got a pee on the potty. And he had decided he wants to wear the big boy undies more. He still was asking to get a diaper on before he pooped. There were still times when he wouldn't go on the potty.
So yesterday I went out and bought some more underwear. He was pretty excited. Today I guessed that he might want to try to wear them all day. He didn't want to try to pee this morning when he got up. Instead he put on undies then wanted a diaper. I knew he probably had to poop. So we had a diaper. A poop. Then big boy undies. Then playing and then an accident. He was find with it. I said we all have accidents. He wanted them again. Then we went for a walk. It was going to just be a short walk around the block. Then he wanted to go to the park. He said he had to go but then changed his mind. I should have tried to get him to go but then we went tot he creek. I think the rushing sound of the water was just too much. He just had pee running down his legs. Of course I didn't have any extra undies or pants. I gave him some choices of just walking with his wet pants. He was so cute, he was waddling around like his pants were wet-because they were. He ended up taking his pants off and I wrapped him in the blanket from Eliza and he rode back in the stroller.
To make this long story shorter... he had a poop in the potty too. He was pretty excited. Then a little later he had a poop accident -too much honeydew this morning. We had to go straight into the bath. He then peed again tonight.
As we were having our family meeting he got all excited about trying to stick his penis out of the undies like the big boys do. He kept saying "Mom, you want to see my penis through my undies?" It was just too cute. We are on our way!
Eliza's top tooth has broken through the surface! Ouch but she has been so good. She is showing some good wrestling moves on the changing table too. Tomorrow she is 9 months! Holy moly!
I wish I could add pictures but alas our computer is full again. What do you other bloggers do with all your pictures and videos? We have moved a bunch to the hard-drive but still are running out of room way too fast.
