Aaahh... [and an update]

Yessss... No school Monday. Five-day weekend!

Erin gets to make it up in March. I get to make it up in June. But we both get to play all day tomorrow!

Hopefully Diamond Jim's will be open for breakfast (it's entirely possible that it won't be). We're planning a town ski, perhaps. I'm thinking out to Cornwall Park or something. It's supposed to be frigid, so we should have a nice, slush-free surface. There's snow everywhere! And tons of it!

Update:

Diamond Jim's was open, so we walked to breakfast with our friends Julie and Jerry. Windy cold. The radio said the temperature would "struggle to reach freezing today." The roads are still sheets of ice. It seems unlikely that we'll have school tomorrow, either. We'll see.

We broke out the cross country skis and headed out for a day on the town. The snow was deep, so the going was slow. First we headed to the field at Bellingham High School.

From BHS, we headed up through the neighborhood to our friends Jen and Oliver and Bjorn's house, near Broadway Park. Someone had skied there before us, so there was a nice track set. It's fun to do in the neighborhood what we usually have to drive for at least an hour to do. Brindzi had fun and even listened well, despite this distracting white stuff. Tons of kids out sledding and playing. Every school in Whatcom County was closed, even Western. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home to get hot chocolate, ice cream, and chili stuff for the crock pot. Yes!

Maybe we'll do it all again tomorrow! It'll hurt in June, but I won't complain in the morning.
